Fasten Your Seatbelts! The most fantasmagorical stage musical in the history of everything, hits the road in top gear on its high-flying tour.
The Mayflower is delighted to announce the return of Craig McLachlan (Neighbours, Home And Away and Bugs on TV) to play the lead role of Caractacus Potts following his recent critically acclaimed appearance in Irving Berlin's White Christmas the Musical. He will be joined by Russ Spencer up until 1 September and Richard O'Brien afterwards as the evil Child Catcher, and Tony Adams (Adam Chance in the long running soap opera Crossroads) as Grandpa Potts reprising his role from the final London Palladium cast.
The original evil Child Catcher from the London Palladium, Richard O'Brien returns to play the role from Monday 3 September for a strictly limited two weeks until Saturday 15 September.
Bursting with magical songs by the Sherman brothers including Toot Sweets, Hushabye Mountain, Truly Scrumptious and, of course, the Academy Award-nominated title song, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, this spectacular show was nominated for three Laurence Olivier Awards and won the Best Musical Variety Club Award.
Based on the book by Ian Fleming, the creator of James Bond, it boasts a cast and crew of over 100 (including 10 dogs), sensational sets and stunning special effects. This action-packed adventure is the story of a magical flying car, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. Get ready to hold tight as you accompany eccentric inventor Caractacus Potts, and his two children Jemima and Jeremy alongside Truly Scrumptious and Grandpa Potts, as they try to outwit the dastardly Baron and the evil Child Catcher.
Don't let it take off without you!
"Chitty Chitty Bang Bang remains an amazing spectacle, with sets to take the breath away and hi-tech wizardry that makes Harry Potter look pedestrian"
- The Sun

- Kevin O'Sullivan, Daily Mirror
"Breathtaking - It's a big joyful, enchanting show"
- John Peter, Sunday Times

"A stylish production which will give you that indescribable tingle which only musical theatre at its very very best can create"
- Chichester Observer
"When the fabled car starts to fly, it takes theatre into another dimension, a magical realm to which the only appropriate response is a dropped jaw"
- Chichester Observer
