Very good, love it. The set was amazing and Evita had such a powerful voice. Great production. First time at the Mayflower and definatly coming back.
Rachael Wooding gives a star making performance, sensational! Amazing voice and stage presence. Having seen her in Hairspray previously (very good in a supporting role), I was blown away at how, in a leading role, she shone! The production itself is superior to the recent West End revival, loved the simple but effective set. Seamus was a bit of a disappointment, not the strongest actor or singer, but he does well enough so it doesnt ruin the show. The rest of the cast and ensemble were great. Highly recommend this show, one of the best The Mayflower has had in a while, and if nothing else, go to see a rising star in Rachael Wooding.
Another great show from the Mayflower! Superb performance from Rachel Wooding, excellent from the rest of the cast. I loved it and would love to see it again and I'm trying to see if I can go again and if there are tickets available!!!!Thank all cast and staff for a great evening.
Brilliant production. Having seen the West End revival in 2007 I had something to compare it too annd this production was as good, if not better! Rachael Wooding is a true star, saw her in WWRY and she was fab in that and it's amazing how when someone is given the chance to appear in a lead role how much they shine! The music is great and a special mention to Natalie Andreou and Stuart Hickey who were understudies and did a great performance, especially Natalies' "Another Suitcase" - the entire show went down very well with the audience, do try and see it before it goes next week!!
This was a truly memorable performance. The musical arrangements and the quality of the singing was some of the best I've ever heard. However, I was with a group of friends and we all thought that the volume of the amplification was excessive and spoilt the performance to some extent. We are all over 60 but didn't think it was necessary for such a loud performance.
Another brilliant show from the mayflower. Very powerful singing. Enjoyed it very much. Thank you to all the cast. Good luck for future performances.
I thought the performance was amazing. I enjoyed every second of it and had goose pimples most of the performance as it was so good. I thought everyone on the stage sang their hearts out and I disagree with anon's comments that Seamus was a let down. I thought he was brilliant. His facial expressions were perfect and conveyed such a story throughout and his voice is amazing. Well done to the entire cast. By the way, I think it would have been really funny for Rachel to acknowledge the dress incident at the end by coming on dragging part of the railings!!! Good recovery in the end though and well done for keeping your composure!!
Another super performance all the cast were excellent, really enjoyed it.
Isle of wight
Great show! I will never forget beautiful ballad Another Suitcase in Another Hall performed by a stand-in, Natalie Andreou. Unforgettable voice, i would love to hear it again.
Isle of Wight
I saw Evita on Saturday and thought it was brilliant. One question though - We had the understudy playing the part of Che. He was amazing, such a great voice, the only problem is we didn't catch his name - does anyone know?

I've seen Evita before & I can't say that it is my favourite musical.
This production was better than the one I saw in London. I was impressed with the standard of singing here & don't think there was a weak performance. The characters Peron & Che were just right & the solo by Peron's ex girlfriend was a highlight. The show whizzed by with barely a boring moment. The set & choreography was very good, certainly a slick performance all round. If you like Evita you will like this.
Loved the show, wasn't sure how Seamus was going to be as he was a bit smug and cocky on 'Any Dream', but to my surprise he was very good in deed.
The only let down was a few people behind me that wanted to chat about the show as it was on, you know who you are row D stalls seats 11-14!!
What a fabulous performance, really loved it all. Juan Peron's ex lover "another suitcase in another hall" was my favourite - who is she? Still singing the songs this morning!!
One word - Stunning, Great Cast, great songs sung supurbly, Seamus cullen was outstanding for me he made the show.
Congratulations to all the cast and The Mayflower staff.
Not sure that Lloyd-Webber's music is at its best in this show but what made it unforgettable were the individual performances; I've never heard a better Eva than Rachael Wooding - every note perfectly pitched, she sailed through the louder passages with confidence and grace and there was an intensity and high degree of emotional communication about her whole performance. Seamus Cullen's Che was sensitive and moving, Mark Heenehan' Peron well-sung and totally believable. Well done Mayflower and cast, not forgetting David Steadman's superb musical direction.
Perfect, Not a fault anywhere. Slick, fast moving pace kept us not wanting to blink in case we missed something. Having never seen Evita before I had nothing to compare to, but felt it was the musical at it's best. I found it hard to believe how quickly they were changing their costumes - it just seemed impossible to achieve it. Che was excellent and Evita was just perfect. I also believed the historic story and the moral of the story was delivered so well.
Many thanks to everyone on stage, and behind the scenes, it was truly wonderful.
WOW!! It was amazing, i thought the whole cast were very strong and sang beautifully in every single scene. Rachel Wooding and Seamus Cullen were amazing as Evita and Che, both very strong and brillant acting skills, good facial expressions. The whole performance ran very smoothly so well done to all the back stage crew. I could not knock any part of the whole performance. Anyone that is going to see it tonight or on Saturday i am very jealous as would love to see it again, you will be blown away and take the tissues for the end, extremly sad. I was sooo impressed i had to stand up, one of the only ones to do so but they deserved it. Well done to the whole cast you are truly stars every single one of you!!!
What can i say but an amazing performance was done by all.The costumes the acting the stars the orchestra the scenery was sheer perfection thankyou so much. lynne and lissa locksheath
We travelled down to Southampton from Mansfield especially to see Evita and we thought it was fantastic. All the cast were very good especially the lady who played Evita. A flawless production.
I loved it the cast was perfect the singing and acting was brilliant. A fantastic show I would love to see it again. Still singing the songs 2 days later.
Absolutely breathtaking! We admire the hard work and pure talents of all singers, dancers, orchestra, wardrobe, and scenery.Very emotional end and the orchestra made us feel that emotion to the very tips of our toes.We all came out wiping a tear away!
Thank-you,thank-you,thank-you! The tickets were a 60th birthday present for my mum in law and she felt it was the best thing she had ever seen at a theatre. Mayflower you keep coming up with these gems. Maybe "Rent" for the future??????
