This is a marvellous opportunity for those who have a passion for Musical Theatre. Focussed on one of the greatest iconic musicals of all time, this Masterclass hosted by The Mayflower Summer School ’09, offers a unique chance to explore Les Misérables with a professional cast member.
Earl has worked on Les Misérables since 1996 in many guises, and since June 2008 has appeared in the role of ‘Javert’ at The Queens Theatre, Shaftsbury Avenue, London. On Sunday 26th July 2009, he will be appearing with the world renowned Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra in the open air ‘Les Misérables in Concert’ at Osborne House on the Isle of Wight.
This Masterclass created and run by Earl, will involve a Q&A session about his career and in particular his experience working on Les Misérables. As a group, the participants will work on a few scenes from the show, deconstructing the music and characters to enable a full insight into the workings of this iconic show. All participants need to arrive with 2 pre-prepared songs, as they would if auditioning for a show. These songs should be similar in style, but NOT songs from Les Misérables. They should also bring the relevant sheet music. Each participant should also have considered which parts they think they are suitable for, this will give a real scope to discussion about ‘being realistic’ in role.
Location
Due to The Mayflower undergoing some extensive building work, this Masterclass will not be able to take place in the theatre. However, The Station is a fantastic drama space and we are very happy to be able to run the Masterclass there.
