Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber's
Evita

Tue 14 - Sat 25 April 2009

Mon - Sat 7.30pm
Wed 15th, Thu & Sat 2.00pm

"I defy anybody who sees this production to say they have seen a better one. "

- The Stage

One of the world's greatest musicals comes to The Mayflower for just two weeks this Easter.

Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber's extraordinary musical EVITA features some of the biggest hit songs ever written, including Don't Cry For Me Argentina, On This Night Of A Thousand Stars, Another Suitcase In Another Hall, Oh What A Circus, You Must Love Me and many more.

West End performer Rachael Wooding plays the role of the extraordinary Eva Peron, wife of former Argentine dictator Juan Peron, who, from young and ambitious beginnings, gained enormous wealth and power during her ultimate rise to sainthood. Rachael’s West End musical theatre credits include Hairspray, We Will Rock You, Saturday Night Fever as well her UK and national tour credits of Footloose, Starlight Express and Cats.

Joining Rachael in the role of Che is Seamus Cullen, popular finalist from BBC TV’s Any Dream Will Do, Mark Heenehan as Juan Peron, whose film credits include The Road to Damascus, Spy Game and Thunderpants and newcomer James Waud as Magaldi, who was hand picked from over one hundred hopefuls who entered a casting call to find the perfect all round performer for the role.

With more than 20 major awards to its credit, including the Oscar winning film version starring Madonna and Antonio Banderas, and featuring one of the most coveted roles in musical theatre, this brand new production of the smash hit show truly promises to be THE THEATRICAL EVENT OF THE YEAR!

Rachael Wooding, who will be playing the role of Eva Peron, is confirmed to play all performances except one a week. Gemma Atkins is scheduled to perform on Thursday 16th 2.00pm and Monday 20th 7.30pm. As always casting is subject to change and should any ailments or unforeseen circumstances arise alternative actors will perform.
