I saw Starlight when it was here last. I had heard that the show had been 'dummed' down, so expected a pale replica of the last version. Was I surprised. It is better than ever; sound (and where were the band? Under the stage?), song and sight. Brilliant. The cast make it look so easy than I could go out and roller blade tomorrow - maybe. Enjoy.

Amazing! I was very impressed, the singing, the costumes, the effects everything was wonderful. A really good night out. As good as everyone was, Greaseball and Electra - toot toot!

This show was amazing! It's well worth seeing, I went with my school! I loved it soo much I suggest you go and see this amazing show! Some of it was in 3D which was the coolest thing ever! I'm so glad I booked up.

Breathtaking, amazing, I left the theatre on a high. Have not seen anything like it. I even standed up at the end and it takes me a lot to do that. It moved me and bought a tear to my eye. I take my hat off to the actors, actresses, rollerblades, the band and the people who work back stage.

Thank you for a truly brilliant show. I saw this show in London many years ago, but this was even better. The cast were amazing and the "safety goggles" left us in stitches! Well done to you all.

This was a fantastic show. We all really enjoyed it. The music and 3D effect were brilliant. The 2 hours went too quickly. I can honestly say this is the best show I have seen in ages.

Why has it taken me 20 years to see this show. I didn't know the story or any of the songs prior to the show but found it superb. My teenage daughters were enthralled.

I've wanted to see the show many times but never got booked in in time, booked early this year, had front circle seats and had a brilliant time, my husband, myself and my mother, often it was to load for all of us but still the porformance was perfect, I came with my mother for the High Society, and also just some times the sound is mixed and to loud, I am 50 years old and good hearing, my mother is 78 and good hearing, otherwise we were realy pleased with everything. Thank you.

Just came out of the Mayflower theatre and home now and onto Internet desparate to see clips of the show because I don't want to let it go! Fantastic and mind blowing...

Stunning... What a Show... I didn't know what the story was so didn't know what to expect but it was brilliant. The whole cast performed superbly... The music was a joy to listen to and the 3D element was something else... Would recommended to young and old.

Saw it last year and was amazed and this year is no different. Costumes, music, everything really first class. Great 3D effects - hands up those who ducked!? Plus a fantastic atmosphere at this performance. Highly recommended - if you haven't seen it - go! The plotline may be minimal but the rest is something else.

We absolutely loved it. It was a fantastic show. I have never seen it before and want to see it again. I highly recommend it to anyone who loves music. The performances by Rusty and Papa were spell binding. Both had voices you wanted to hear again and again.

Having seen this show many times at the Apollo in Victoria London took the kids last night, these guys keep the magic alive. Mykal Rand as Electra is truly a class act!

Starlight Express was fantastic. I'd like to congratulate the cast on the opening night. Thought the guys in it had the most fabulous voices and they were certainly very talented. Starlight express is amazing. It was magical. It was great. I Loved the stunts and thoroughly enjoyed the mega mix at the end of the show and being able to get up and have a dance, Jig about and have a great time. It's a show not to be missed. I'll definately see it when it comes to Southampton again.

Brilliant, I have seen it twice in London and on tour at the Mayflower two year ago. Took my son this time he was blown away! His face is something I will never forget when the show started. Thanks to all the cast who very kindly took the time to talk afterwards. I don't think he will ever forget it.

It Was The Best Show I Have Ever Been To If I Could I Would See It Over And Over Again It Was Brillent And The Cast Were So Good And The Lead Actor Kristopher Harding Is A Amazeing Singer Love This Show Reccomend It To Everyone
Danielle

My friend booked this show, and then I read a really poor review in our local paper, so was rather apprehensive as I knew nothing about it. As it happens I have enjoyed it very much, found it exciting if a little loud, super costumes and great voices, the cast worked their buts off and gave to my inexperienced eye a faultless performance, well done everyone, good entertainment.

I saw this show for the first time today and I thought it was absolutely brilliant, one of the best musicals I have ever seen. The cast were fantastic especially Rusty he couldn't have been better. I will certainly be seeing this again.

Having seen the London show twice, I was slightly apprehensive about booking again - in case the 'on tour' show wasn't as good. I needn't have worried, as I smiled from the minute the show started to minute it ended. Cleverly incorporated 3D film race scenes brought a new twist; and the cast whizzed around every available inch of the stage. Still as good as ever, and on a chilly Thursday afternoon in Southampton, there sure was a light at the end of the tunnel! Whooo whoooo!
Carolyn (aged 44 and a half)

I wonder if you only publish the good reviews? In spite of all the good comments when I went with my husband and two friends we were all very disappointed with the show. We had heard of tho not seen the London production and were expecting fantastic stunts and the cast to be on runways in the aisles and the stage to be built out into the audience. We felt that tho the cast did their best they were limited by space so could not get up much speed and the storyline was weak and even Andrew Lloyd Webbers music (which we are all fans of having seen all his other shows) was disappointing. The 3D film was the only really effective parts in our opinion.

Having been to the London stage show years ago (and loved i) I had high expectations and unfortunately came out of the show dissapointed. I realised that there would be some limitations as the Mayflower has relatively small stage, but the 3D race effects were a great alternative but it did take away some of the magic. My biggest dissapointment though was the change in score (the new songs didn't really flow very well- they stuck out like a sore thumb) land making Electra camp! He was always my favorite- the uber-cool flahy bad boy, I had spent ages telling my family how cool he was! Having said that, the man who played the old steam train had the most amazing voice and that saved the performance for me.

This show was awesome and definitely the best I've ever seen. I've seen so many that have given me ideas on going to a theatre or drama school because I would love to do shows when I am older and this show really did it for me and I am going to start a theatre school in the near future with my friend. I would just like to say to all of the performers thank you for making me realise what I would like to be and I thought that you were all amazing x x x

It was an amazing experience. If you ever had a pair of roller skates when you were a kid, then this takes you back to those days. You really feel like going out and buying yourself a pair and skating around the streets. Maybe not such a good idea when you are getting on in case you knock your hip out!

Absolutely fantastic, both my husband & myself thoroughly enjoyed it. The special effects were brilliant, the show itself was something else. A fantastic evening out. A wonderful christmas pressie. Highly recommend it. Go on book up now before it's too late, you wont regret it!

I loved the music, superb! All kinds to cater for any audience! The singing is absolutely fantastic ( I could listen to the actor who played Pappa forever, as well as Rusty's performer!) Not to mention the acting and their general performance, brilliant! Fantastic dancing and stunts as well. However, I have to admit my disappointment when it came to the "3D" version of it. I know that was how the show was advertised and promoted, but my idea of 3D, theatre wise, was to see the whole premise as an extension of the stage show, with "train" tracks above the stalls siding with dress circles where the actors race and do breathtaking stunts. I have heard and read about this show before and that was how it was described to me, with no 3D cinema screen coming down on stage for the races and goggles given out at the foyer. I even like 3D films, but that is not what I came to see Starlight for. I've seen a bunch of them in Disney, so "no, thanks". Sorry, I might sound arrogant on this one, but my expectations were far greater than a 3D movie screen. It is the kind of play that should not be touring if they can't afford to adapt the premises to fulfil the "soul" of the production. Clever, though, as the play was adapted and they found an economical way (I suppose) to tour the play. Still worth seeing, great for kids, and if you 've never seen it before, or are a 3D movie buff, you will enjoy it! But I still think nothing can beat the thrill of the real stunts in the race. No 3D screen and special goggles can do that!

What an amazing show! I loved every minute of it. I went to see the show when it was last at the Mayflower and just needed to come back and see it again, a little unsure whether I would be blown away again and I was not disapointed. I love the musical score and the usual twist of everyone on skates plus the added bonus of 3D video. I'd be eager to see it in the theatre programme again and I will definitely be in the audience!

What a show - superb in every respect. Absolutely fantastic!

The storyline was rubbish. Almost all of the songs were annoying. Yet the Theatre production, on the other hand, was amazing. In my opinion, the combination of excellent costumes, stunning choreography, simple yet effective set design, 3D right-in-your-face race sequences, and Paul Whittaker the sign language guy made it a thoroughly enjoyable experience for all the family. Heh. Thats me using long words and sounding right proffessional. Lawl.

This is undoubtedly the BEST show I have ever seen. All the cast are fantastic. My favourites are Rusty for his beautiful and powerful voice and Electra for his fabulous roller skating and his portrayal of something that is Electric, VERY convincing! The costumes are excellent and show great detail up close. The music is loud but the louder the better! It is powerful and expressive. I enjoyed the 3D part and receiving the "SAFETY GOGGLES"! It makes me cross when people say its not as good as the London production! Southampton Stage is tiny compared to the London one! How are they supposed to skate out in the audience! Fall down the steps! Some people don't understand or appreciate excellent quality. Its not the Apollo its the Mayflower! I have been 6 times to see the show with various people from my 67 year old Grandma to a 4 year old I look after! They ALL thought it was fantastic! Appeals to all ages! I am coming again on Saturday with my cousin from Spain and Mum! Well done to all involved!

Saw this with my gran who is notoriously hard to please - we both loved it, expecially when watching the screen with 3D glasses. Gran had refused to wear hers and when I managed to persuade her to put them on, she donned them just as a bat was flying towards her. Boy did she scream and boy did I laugh. SE is not what I expected - way out there, but so much better!

After seeing it twice last year, I was really expecting something amazing. I was slightly dissapointed with this years performance, i don't know what it was but it just seemed really bland. I don't think it was the cast - but it was definitely something. I didn't go home really upset about it but i wasnt thinking - wow im gonna watch it again. But it was still a brilliant show!
Jax

OMG! What a show. I was buzzing all the way home to Portsmouth. There wasnt a dull moment and being a performer myself it has inspired me to get my skates out of the shed lol. A great show all round the cast were sensational and I even got a wink from dinah thanks for a great evening.

I thought the show was outstanding. The cast were amazing, they brought energy, entertainment and star quality to Southampton. The make up, secenery, and costume were all outstanding, but the quality of singing really threw me. An amazing show with an amazing cast. Good luck with future shows.

Absolutely fabulous, the whole cast were amazing. Tom Kanavan was an absolute stud as Greaseball so was disappointed not to see him on the Saturday afternoon performance! Please come back next year!

Fantastic, amazing, excellent, sublime, wow factor, what an experience, a thrilling show from start to finish. Family entertainment at its best. All the characters in the show were spell binding and a credit to the story. The cast were so genuine and happily signed autographs afterwoods for my daughter, whose birthday it was, it made her day, so thankyou to everyone. Looking forward to the show returning to come and watch it again and again. Brilliant.

I last saw this show ten years ago to the day at the Victoria Apollo in London and even if I couldn't of remembered every single minute of it when i was 13 I am glad to say that seeing it yesterday has managed to refresh everything all over again! This has to be my favourite musical and even though they didnt have the bridge and the track to skate the race round on, the 3D video footage more then made up for it! All I need now is for someone to release it on dvd and live will be complete!

I was absoloutely blown away by this show! As it went on it got better and better! The outfits were so cool and the actors AMAZING! My favourite parts were Dinah singing U.N.C.O.U.P.L.E.D and the 3D races. I also had shivers down my spine when Rusty sang Starlight express! The 3D effect was amazing and yeas, I did duck (along with everyone else in the audience!). In my opinion it couldn't have been better and I will for sure see it next time it comes back to Southampton! Well done all of the cast!
