I would just like to say this show was fantastic Connie Fisher was just like i thought she was going to be she was just like julie andrews!!! The children were very talented and the acting skills was spot on especially the little girl who played gretel she was really good and cute. The set was amazing. A show well worth seeing thanks for such a good evening we came from the isle of wight it was well worth it!! xxx

It was a fantastic show. Well done to all the cast. Connie was great.
The children were brilliant especially the little one playing Gretel. She was exceptional.

A visual and musical treat and extremely well produced and directed - worthy of the 5 min standing ovation. Connie Fisher showed why she won the BBC show - loads of personality, energy and a truly genuine bonding with the rest of the cast especially the children. The Mother Superior continued in the same vein as when she appeard in the West End - absolutely superb. Please pass our thanks to the cast and crew, ( who often do not get the recognition they deserve), for an excellent show and giving people the opportunity to transport themselves albeit only for one evening into something quite magical and a wonderful distraction from day to day life.

What a fantastic show. The Mother Superior gave me goose bumps when she sang Climb every Mountain. AS for Connie Fisher and Michael Praed they were brilliant. The children, especially little Gretel were wonderful. It was a wonderful performance by the whole cast. Thank you for bringing the show to The Mayflower Theatre.

Congratulations and many, many thanks for a wonderful evening. Our heartfelt thanks go to the youngest to the oldest including the orchestra. Oh! didn't the thunder storm make us jump and gosh! didn't they change their customes quickly. Everything was brilliant, all the people behind the scenes should also be congratulated. The standing ovation was well and truly deserved. Wonderful We look forward to visiting the Mayflower again and in fact have booked for Scrooge.

What a show!! It was absolutely fantastic. Connie is a wonderful Maria and the chemistry that exists amongst all the cast is spot on and very believable. The children were all very talented. their singing and acting skills were second to none and they were so full of energy. The show has the right mixture of emotions from funny one liners to goose bump moments especially when the Mother Superior sings "Climb Every Mountain". I just didn`t want the show to come to an end. Thank you so much for bringing this great show on tour.

Wow what a great show. I was lucky enough to see the show with my Nan and Mum last night. It was brill and I especially liked seeing all the children in the show. I loved all the beautiful costumes that all the cast wear and really loved Maria`a wedding dress! I loved all the songs that the children sang especially the Lonely Goatherd and Do Ri Me - they were such great fun. All the children and Maria seemed to be having such a great time. The ending was really moving and I loved the nuns singing Climb Every Mountain. I wish I could go and see the show again. Well done eveyone - especially the children and Connie.

I am sure we will see much more of them all in the future. The show had everything needed for an enjoyable evening, great singing & acting from all the cast, Mother Superior was brilliant singing Climb every mountain. Thank you so much for a fantastic performance last night. Everything about it was amazing - the singing, the acting, the sets! There was a great chemistry amongst the cast and the songs gave me goosebumps. I feel privileged to be able to see such a wonderful performance in my home town. It was so good that I felt genuinely sad about the prospect of not being able to see it again - so I am now booking more tickets!!! Thanks again for making me smile all day today and good luck with the rest your run.

We are thrilled with all of the wonderful comments that people have left. We are really pleased that you have enjoyed the show so much as we certainly have a fantastic time performing for you. There is no greater feeling than when we receive a standing ovation from the audience. Thanks for your encouragment.

I have just returned from seeing your fantastic production of The Sound Of Music, one of the best evenings I have spent at the Mayflower ! I was slightly concerened as the only seats I could buy were in row C in the balcony but the show looked and sounded fantastic and I dont think we missed any part of the action. Well done Mayflower for continuing to bring such quality shows to the south.

Connie was amazing, Margaret was brilliant, the children were superb and Michael was fanastic, I could watch this time and time again. Thanks the rest of the cast who were truly great and back stage who are always amazing. Thanks.

I would like to say how much I enjoyed 'The sound of music'. All the cast were brilliant but when Maggie Preece sang 'Climb every mountain' I was in tears, it was the most beautiful moment of the production. Has she recorded this song? Well done again to Connie and all of you!

I saw the Sound of Music last night and would just like to congratulate the cast and the staff at the Mayflower for putting on an excellent performance.
Although Connie Fisher does not perform on Monday evenings this did not detract from a wonderful performance and the alternate Maria, Kirsty Malpass was simply superb.
If you fancy getting away from the doom and gloom of 'credit crunch' Britain for a few hours and transporting yourself to the singing hills of 1930's Austria then I fully recommend seeing this show!

Simply BRILLIANT! Connie was my favourite from the start and I voted for her every time and was thrilled when she won. I really wanted to see her in London but couldn't, so I was over the moon when I found out she was coming to Southampton. The whole show exceeded all my expectations, and the whole cast were excellent, but Connie was INCREDIBLE and I am so pleased I got to see her. WELL DONE CONNIE AND EVERYONE INVOLVED I had a fantastic time.

Having seen this show four times at the Palladium, it was great to see it again at The Mayflower on Saturday afternoon (3rd October). The production is almost identical to London, except for the mountain. The entire cast were fantastic, especially the children. Michael Praed was a very good Captain and Connie looked and sang even better than in London. The one criticism was moving "The Lonely Goatherd" to the bedroom scene instead of "My Favourite Things". Definitely one of the best touring shows we have seen (and we have seen most of them). Congratulations to the entire team.

Of all the musicals I have seen both at Mayflower and in the West End, this one tops the bill. It was moving, funny, so well presented and acted and I don't think I have ever sat in a theatre where you could hear a pin drop at times, all the emotions of the story were so well captured. The lead actors were wonderful as were the rest of the cast and of course the orchestra. My disabled daughter loved every minute of it, so did I and so did her grandmother who came with us. Thank you a wonderful evening.

I can only echo all the previous comments on this fantastic production. Any lucky person yet to see the show, trust me,you will enjoy it! It is one of the best shows that I have seen at he Mayflower. In fact as Craig Revel-Horwood would say it was simply FAB-U-LOUS! Well done to all the cast, especially Mother Superior singing Climb every Mountain. I could listen to her singing that song all day. Hope it returns to the Mayflower again in the not too distant future.

I saw this show several times in London and was very impressed by this touring version. Great to see some of the London understudies - notably Liesl and Rolf - playing their parts full time now, and doing it so well. We saw the "London" team of children who were excellent - boundless energy and enthusiasm. A great show - well done to all the cast.

In one word. BRILLIANT! i am not a big fan of the film but the stage show was incredible. Connie and Michael were so great, excelent raport between them. The children were incredible given there young age. They have a brilliant career ahead of them if that is how they are starting out.
Both Connie and Michael were so curtious after the show, even with the rain, and stayed to meet us eager autograph hunters.
I will definitely be seeing the show again before it finishes its run at Southampton.

I feel compelled to thank everyone - yes everyone - for the wonderful performance last evening. It was a surprise treat for my 91 year old mother. We both loved the show. It will remain as a special memory in our hearts and minds. Connie sang as if each song was new and fresh to her. The children were especially charming, and Mother Superior's voice brought a tear to my eyes. Lovely, lovely...........have the day off one and all. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

I saw this production at the Palladium three times and can quite honestly say that this touring version is actually better than the London version! OK, so the mountain was little more a small incline, but this was far outweighed by the cast being SUPERB and little touches that made it a brilliant show. Congratulations to Claire Fishenden - Liesel- far superior to her London counterpart; her acting moved me to to tears on more than one occasion last night. And oh what a joy to have a Captain von Trapp who can actually sing. They way Michal Praed 'unbent' from the stiff Captain in the beginning to the warm and loving father and husband was marvellous.
I saw Lesley Garret and Margaret Preece at the Palladium as the Mother Abbess and although I love Lesley on stage, Margaret really knocks her into a cocked hat both in her fanatstic acting skills and simply phenomenal voice. More tears flowed when she sang Climb Every Mountain!
And of course well done to Connie, who seemed to be struggling somewhat last night - I did wonder if she would appear after the interval as she had a cold which was obviously affecting her voice, but in real trouper style, she was there in the second act.
The children were excellent - I am pleased the producers went with a touring company of children instead of pulling then from local dance schools, as they were true pros!
Thank you so much to all involved - I hope The Sound of Music returns very soon!

As so many comments have said, this is a wonderful production of Sound of Music with a strong cast. All the children were utterly brilliant, WELL DONE!!
The female leads, well what can I say? Such strong singing, ladies you were fantastic. And how nice to have a Captain Von Trapp with a wonderful singing voice too.
My two young children were bowled over by the show stopping ' Climb Every Mountain'. Thank you so much to all the cast and crew for such a good evenings entertainment.

I went along to see it with a couple of friends of mine. I was singing along. I thought the show was great. I bought myself a pink von trapp top/t-shirt from the gift shop. I thought connie was perfect for the main lead role as Maria. Edelweiss and climb every mountain are both 2 of my top favourite songs from the show. Congratulations and well done to all the sound of music cast. Goodluck and all the very best for the future to you all.

I went to see Sound of music and what a show The scenery was fantastic The cast was fantastic
Well done to all the cast and crew
In one part of the show in the garden bit i not sure if it was ment to happen but connie ate a bit of cake then turned round to the next person on stage to give out her line but tried to speak as she had her mouth full she had the audience laughing and in stitches cause she was delivering her lines whilst having her mouth full
it was the best show i seen it was a great night out
Well done Mayflower for bringing it to southampton

What a wonderful performance, Connie was brilliant - very worthy of being the winner of "how do you solve a problem", but my night was certainly made by seeing Michael Praed once more at the Mayflower - his singing is still superb! The cast were brilliant, particularly the young lady who played Gretel that night, but all the children put their heart and soul into the performance. Thanks to Connie and Michael for taking the time out to stand in the rain and sign autographs and pose for pictures - MANY THANKS!!!! Hope the rest of the tour goes as well

Amazing!! My husband and i took my mother and we were all very impressed. I was an avid follower of the search for Maria shows, my husband said Connie would win after week 2 and i agreed. Her voice surpassed our expectations, and she really did sing and act as she had promised when she won the show "as if every night was her first night"! I thought Michael Praed was fantastic as the Captain, and is even more gorgeous than when he was younger! Maggie Preece blew us away when she sang, it really was out of this world. The set was brilliant, really well done, and the children all played their part wonderfully...i'd love to go back and see it again!

I travelled down from Bristol to see this show on Saturday evening and it was truely fantastic. The whole show from beginning to end was magical. Connie was a natural Maria and her relationship with the Captain and the children was very believable. The children performing that evening were absolutely amazing - what talent each and every one of them has! They have all worked incredibly hard and were such professionals. All the cast were brilliant and appeared to be having such fun. I came away from the show desperate to see it again. Well done to everyone involved in the show it really is an incredible production and I cannot recommend it highly enough.

WOW! What a show, absolutely everyone played their roles fantastically well - particularly Mother Abbess, she was indescribably amazing when singing Climb every mountain!
I couldn't recommend this enough - one of the best shows I've ever seen.

After reading all the comments and reports on how wonderful this show was, our group finally went last night to see it and we have to agree with everyone. it was the best show we have seen for a long time. Congratulations to all performers and assistants & behind scene staff.
Connie Fisher is superb (a younger version of Julie Andrews) and must be congratulated for putting so much energy and life into the character of Maria, night after night. Not once was her performance short of perfection. Connie Fisher is Maria!
The children were enchanting and being close to the stage, we could see their expressions and they all acted their parts so very well. Michael Praed was excellent as Captain Von Trapp and when he sang Eidelweiss it was touching and totally spell binding.
However, when Maggie Preece sang 'Climb every mountain', the whole audience listened with bated breath as she delivered the most sensational and tear jerking performance I have ever heard of this song, and would echo someone else who said has she recorded it? I would see the show again, just to hear her sing! (Maggie Preece's Album is available from the Mayflower Foyer until the end of the run- Mayflower)
But don't just sit there and read this, if you haven't seen it then Go, as this is the show you should not miss, and as good as the film or the London performance, if not better!!!!!

I took mum as a 50th birthday treat, it wouldn't have been a choice for me otherwise. BUT how wrong was I? It was amazing! As I think the general feel of the comments are - Connie was great, but the one that really made an impact was the Mother Superior in her song 'Climb ev'ry Mountain'. The children were all great too. And I have to make a special mention to the lighting and set design. Both of which were superb. Very clever how the doors danced on during the 'party'. Would definitely see again and would recommend it to anyone who likes a good show. Thanks for another great night out.

Excellent show, but may i take time out to mention the unsung heroes of the evening. We had the meal and show ticket, the meal was outstanding, very well presented and went with the theme of Austria. All the staff were very good at the jobs they were doing and we couldnt of asked for more on a wonderfull night out.

We had an excellent time, the whole performance was brilliant. It's been some time since we went to the theatre, and if they are like this, we'll definitely back. Value for money doesn't even compare to a football match or other form of entertainment, this was 2 and half hours of sheer professionalism. Thank you one and all (as an aside, how de we get a cast list for the afternoon) - we want to mark off in our program as many of those starring will be around for some time..especially the younger ones.

What wonderful show, it was absolutely brilliant, I loved every amazing moment of it. The whole cast were fantastic. Kirsty Malpass was outstanding as Maria in place of Connie. well done, Kirsty.
Margret Preece was mavellous as the Mother Abbess. her voice is superb. Her 'Climb Every Mountain' second to none.
Michael Praed is a very handsome Cpt.Von Trapp. He has such incredible stage presence. His portrayal of the Captain was 'spot on' and he sings beautifully too, especially 'Edelweiss.'Pure magic!
All the children were adorable and perfect in their roles, real little professionals. In fact everything was perfect, costumes, lighting, staging, music. A big Thank you to everyone involved, you all deserve a standing ovation. This whole show was a joyful, uplifting experience. And judging by the applause and the people I spoke to afterwards, everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves. I am really looking forward to seeing it again.

Fabulous show. Three generations of our family enjoyed it. Connie was even better than I expected, in fact we all agreed she was as good as Julie Andrews! The rest of the cast was excellent and the orchestra deserves a special mention too. Puzzled by one thing though-there were only 6 children in the second half so they escaped over the mountain apparently leaving one of the girls behind!!

This was the most wonderful show and sits with those at the top of my all time favourites. Connie Fisher certainly showed us why she was chosen to play Maria - I really do not think Julie Andrews did it any better.
I saw The Sound of Music on the London stage many years ago but nothing could have prepared me for the impact of Andrew Lloyd Webber's production, or for "Climb Every Mountain" twice sending shivvers down my spine. Fantastic, unforgettable.
Kate Boyes
What a fantastic Show! Brilliant evening and thoroughly enjoyed by all in our group - Connie Fisher was amazing and the children were spot on in their dancing and singing! I would definitely see this again. Margaret Preece moved a couple in our group to tears with her rendition of Climb every Mountain! One of the eagle eyed in our group spotted that there were only 6 Von Trapp children after the interval and I do hope the missing one is ok! Well done to you all for entertaining us so well!

This production was truly amazing! I was lucky enough to see the entire main cast and they were all perfect in their roles. Connie was a lot better than a thought she would be; and I had high expectations. She sung so beautifully and was an exceptional actor! Margaret Preece gave me goosebumps when she sang and all of the children were wonderful! Thank you to all the cast for making it such a brilliant night out. Hands down one of the best Mayflower productions I've seen!

What a fantastic show! So many wonderful comments on here and I agree with every one of them. My sister-in-law and my self actually went to see Michael Praed! We saw him years ago in 'Leave him to Heaven' at the Nuffield and have always been fans of his! He didn't disappoint and we were so pleased seeing him (still as handsome!!). The whole cast were amazing. Connie sang effortlessly and was absolutely fantastic throughout. The whole cast were brilliant and you watched with confidence. Sometimes you see a show and worry that mistakes could be made. With this production, it was so well done. We all tend to applaud the main stars of the show, but it goes without saying how much input everyone has, from stage management, props, etc. etc. So many thanks to you all for providing over 2 hours of fantastic entertainment.

Undoubtedly the best musical the Mayflower has played host to this year.
This was truly a first class West End production. The new mountain set was far superior to that used at the Palladium and gave a better feel to the beginning and, to the journey over the alps at the end. The sound was absolutely spot on throughout, unlike some other productions at the Mayflower, every spoken and sung word could be heard clearly and, not once did the orchestra (playing superbly)drown out the singing. This was a magnificent show which deserved the full houses it achieved. Connie Fisher, Margaret Preece, et al thank you for a wonderful show.
My only gripe concerns part of the the stage. The false proscenium/wings which, as in other productions, extend beyond the original stage sides obscure part of the stage for anyone sitting at the side of the auditorium or in an expensive box.

I organised a group of friends from the Fordingbridge area and we had a fabulous evening - Connie was on great form and from Row E we could really appreciate her wonderful facial expressions. Have to mention Margaret's rendition of Climb Every Mountain of course. I loved the scene with the children in the bedroom during the storm and generally the children were delightful. I did not see the London Show but from many of the above comments it looks like I did well to wait for the touring show.
