Public Transport - Getting to and from the theatre

The Mayflower Theatre is ideally placed for arriving by train, bus, coach and ferry. The Mayflower's vicinity to Southampton Central Rail Station makes it easily accessible to customers living throughout Hampshire and the South.

With public transport services operating late into the night, why not take advantage of them and enjoy a drink in our bars without worrying about finding car parking space or driving!

Train

The Mayflower is less than five minute's walk from Southampton Central Rail Station, which receives direct services from London Waterloo, Bournemouth, Portsmouth, Bristol and many other major routes, along with local services.

To find out how to get here by train visit Southwest Trains, National Rail Inquiries or call them on 08457 484950.

Bus

Many local bus routes stop near Southampton Central rail station, usually on the same side of the station as the theatre, as marked on the map above.

For buses around the city and across South Hampshire, visit Bluestar.

For local Southampton buses, visit First Southampton and view the Southampton Overground routes.

For buses to and from the universities in Southampton, visit Unilink.

Coaches

The National Express Southampton Coach Station is five minute's walk from The Mayflower, as marked on the map above. When you arrive, follow signs to the railway station, cross the bridge to the right of the station and follow signs to the theatre.

If you are planning to privately rent a coach, information on coach drop-off and parking can be found on the Coach Parking page.

Ferries from the Isle of Wight

Coming to a show at The Mayflower from the Isle of Wight is quick and easy, even for evening performances. Instead of bringing your car over specially for the occasion, we recommend using Red Funnel's Red Jet passenger ferry service, and catching the free CityLink bus (run by Bluestar) to and from the theatre.

The CityLink buses are timed to meet the ferries, and will take you from just outside the Red Jet terminal to the drop off point marked on the map next to Southampton Central rail station, which is less than five minute's walk from The Mayflower; cross the bridge to the right of the station and follow signs to the theatre.

Shows usually finish in good time to catch the CityLink for the 10.45pm Red Jet; if not, there is another Red Jet at 11.45pm, although the CityLink service does not have a service from the station to meet this ferry, so unless you catch an earlier bus, it is wise to catch a taxi.
