    Mayflower Theatre is the largest independent theatre in the south of the UK. We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Chief Electrician to join our team and become part of our continued success. With a wide range of shows including large scale musicals, opera and dance performed on our stage, this role would be suitable for a candidate with proven experience in a similar position within a presenting theatre or producing house. 

    The role of the Electrician is to support the senior technical team in the smooth running of all aspects of the Technical Department, ensuring that all Technical, Facilities and H & S aspects of the department are delivered to the highest quality whilst taking particular responsibility for all lighting, sound and AV aspect of projects and performances.

    Duties and responsibilities:

    • To participate in the smooth running of all fit-ups, get-ins, rehearsals, performances, changeovers and get-outs as directed.

    • To be able to advise the Technical Manager when LX, sound and AV matters are impractical or outside the capability of the theatre and to suggest alternative arrangements whilst fulfilling the artistic interpretation required by the production.

    • Act as Duty Technical Manager and be point of contact on a rota basis, ensuring all operational maintenance and administration requirements of the business are adequately covered and visiting company requirements are met.

    • To be able to function in any appropriate position as part of a performance crew. 

    • To maintain accurate equipment inventories and ensure all technical areas are kept clean and tidy at all times.

    • Rigging, focusing, plotting, and operation etc. of lighting and sound equipment as well as operation of the counterweight flying system and motors.

    • Ensure our customer’s requirements are delivered, ensuring excellent customer service is maintained at all times.Our ideal applicant will be an excellent team player who is computer literate with attention to detail. 

    • As well as working as part of the technical crew on show calls you will lead small teams from time to time to ensure the smooth running of performances and projects.

    Our ideal applicant will be an excellent team player who is computer literate with attention to detail.  You will have a BTEC Technical Theatre or equivalent and academic qualifications to a good standard; English and Mathematics.  Some supervisory experience is preferred but not essential as training can be given. 

    It is essential that you have experience of working within the technical area of the professional live entertainment industry and a good working knowledge of all aspects of technical theatre in particular an in depth knowledge of PA installation and operation, as well as programming lighting for a range of shows, practical experience of repair and maintenance of Stage, LX /PA equipment and large scale get in/fit up.  In addition to this it would be advantageous to have knowledge of counterweight flying and rigging. 

    168 hours worked over a 4 week period.  The rota includes evenings, weekends and bank holidays. Salary £29,615 per annum plus TMA get outs.
