Le Vin herbé tells the story of two lovers who drink a spiked potion and fall hopelessly in love. Their affair inevitably leads to tragedy.
Most famously told in Wagner’s Tristan und Isolde, Frank Martin’s intimate opera offers a very different take on the legend in an up-to-date retelling of the story. Directed by critically acclaimed director Polly Graham, the piece was originally conceived for 12 singers, but will be performed by the entire WNO chorus, promising to be a thrilling arrangement of this rarely performed opera.
