Want to get to know our staff? We will be highlighting three of our amazing staff in each blogpost over the coming days to find out the best things about working at Mayflower Theatre and what goes on behind the scenes.

  2. Tell us about your job in 10 words: Helping to keep all of our staff / customers / contractors safe. 
  3. How long have you worked at Mayflower Theatre? 3 years.
  4. Best part about working at Mayflower Theatre? Without a doubt the people – friendly, professional and dedicated.
  5. Favourite show you’ve seen at Mayflower Theatre and why? War Horse – Mesmerising and immersive.
  6. Best lockdown tip?: Keep the faith, follow government advice and remember that eventually it will end.
  7. Are you more an Actor, Singer, Dancer, Triple Threat, Musician, Techie, or none of the above? None of the above. 
  8. Favourite place in Southampton, other than Mayflower Theatre?: IKEA (veggie meatballs!)
  9. Best Mayflower engage project you’ve been involved in?: Little Shop of Horrors.
  10. If you could be in any show, which show would you be in?: I would be the male lead in “The King and I”

 

  1. Introduce yourself and your job title: I’m Kelly and I’m one of the Front Of House team leaders.
  2. Tell us about your job in 10 words: My job is varied, keeps me entertained and on my toes.
  3. How long have you worked at Mayflower Theatre? About 13 years.
  4. Best part about working at Mayflower Theatre? Never a dull moment. It’s an amazing building to work in.
  5. Favourite show you’ve seen at Mayflower Thetare and why? Les Misérables - the songs and story line are amazing.
  6. Best lockdown tip? Find something new to learn - I’m learning British Sign Language.
  7. Are you more an Actor, Singer, Dancer, Triple Threat, Musician, Techie, or none of the above? None of the above - although alone in my car I have been known to belt out a show tune!
  8. Favourite place in Southampton, other than Mayflower Theatre? The outdoor sports centre.
  9. Best Mayflower engage project you’ve been involved in? Final show of the youth project.
  10. If you could be in any show, which show would you be in? Wicked - I love Elphaba. She’s not bad, just misunderstood!

 

  1. Introduce yourself and your job title: I’m Ruth and I am a Marketing Campaign Co-ordinator
  2. Tell us about your job in 10 words: Making sure people know what wonderful shows are on.
  3. How long have you worked at Mayflower Theatre? 2 weeks (yes, it is the strangest start to a new job)
  4. Best part about working at Mayflower Theatre? Amazing atmosphere at work.
  5. Favourite show you’ve seen at Mayflower Theatre and why? La Cenerentola – My dad took me to see my first opera a long time ago and I fell in love with the theatre, opera and the Mayflower.
  6. Best lockdown tip?: Have a dance to some music you love every day.
  7. Are you more an Actor, Singer, Dancer, Triple Threat, Musician, Techie, or none of the above?
    Singer!
  8. Favourite place in Southampton, other than Mayflower Theatre? Southampton Common (particularly on a Saturday morning for ParkRun)
  9. Best Mayflower engage project you’ve been involved in? I haven’t been involved in one yet!
  10. If you could be in any show, which show would you be in? So many to choose from! I think Les Miserable for a musical and Eugene Onegin for Opera.
  1. Introduce yourself and your job title: My Name is Robin and I am the Press and Marketing Manager at the theatre
  2. Tell us about your job in 10 words: Oversee marketing of shows, acquire PR coverage for the theatre.
  3. How long have you worked at Mayflower Theatre? Thirteen and a half years.
  4. Best part about working at Mayflower Theatre? No two days are the same, working with a great team who are passionate about what they do.
  5. Favourite show you’ve seen at Mayflower Theatre and why? My current favourite is Sunny Afternoon – discovering the whole of The Kinks back catalogue in a biographical story and it was LOUD! – loved it.
  6. Best lockdown tip? Start the day with a workout, get dressed and appreciate the small things.
  7. Are you more an Actor, Singer, Dancer, Triple Threat, Musician, Techie, or none of the above? I would love to see myself as a bit of a singer as I am in the staff choir.
  8. Favourite place in Southampton, other than Mayflower Theatre? I love the view from the top of the Itchen Bridge as I often run across it. 
  9. Best Mayflower engage project you’ve been involved in? Working backstage for Les Misérables School Edition, a great insight to the hard work our wonderful crew do.
  10. If you could be in any show, which show would you be in? Jesus Christ Superstar.
