    Salary: £8.09 per hour

    Hours: Variable to suit the Theatre needs (casual contract)

    Mayflower Theatre is the biggest theatre on the south coast with over 2,300 seats in our auditorium – we are an independent Trust with the aim to bring a diverse range of shows to Southampton. We present a mixture of spectacular touring productions, from musicals - many direct from the West End – to dance, opera, drama, ballet and comedy.

    We are run as a charitable trust and we don’t receive any funding from any external bodies, so all the money generated from tickets sales goes straight back into keeping the theatre alive.

    We are recruiting for Casual Technicians. These are interesting and varied roles, duties include:

    • To participate in the smooth running of fit-ups, get-ins, rehearsals, performances, changeovers and get-outs.

    • To participate in the cleaning and maintenance of all technical areas and equipment

    • To attend Operational meetings and regular technical department meetings as required

    • To consider and bring to the attention of the Technical Manager, Stage Managers and Chief Electrician any health and safety issues that arise in respect of the visiting productions

    • To deliver a professional service to visiting companies by working to the best of your abilities at all times

    Requirements:

    • Proven experience of working within the technical area of the live entertainment industry

    • Good working knowledge of all aspects of technical theatre with an in depth knowledge of at least one of the following Lx, Av, Automation, Sound, rigging, staging

    • Experience of working on large scale get in/fit up crew

    • Hours of work will be varied including unsociable hours and weekends so flexibility is essential.

    • Excellent communication skills and ability to work under pressure and as part of a team
