Spirit of Mayflower400

In 2020 as part of the 400 year commemorations of the Mayflower ship leaving Southampton for the New World, Mayflower Theatre have commissioned two new musicals and a dance production to be performed on the Mayflower Theatre stage in August 2020.

AUDITION REGISTRATION IS NOW CLOSED

Hourglass is a brand new musical filled with mystery and humour, which celebrates the power of courage and hope. Combining historical fact with fantastical fiction (by way of Jules Verne and Lewis Carroll), the show will incorporate a company of both professional and community performers.

Many miles above the earth, the mysterious Navigator looks out across the seas. Every day her task is to ensure the smooth passage of all journeys through history, time and space. Every day the same, until the fateful day she makes a mistake and the crew of the Mayflower, sailing to America in 1620, are put in terrible danger. Calling on the stars for help, the Navigator has to use all her powers – and theirs – to try to put things right. But can she succeed?

Compass is an uplifting coming-of-age story filled with trepidation, friendship and hope following the journey of Liya, a young adult with a passion for aviation. We join a group of teenagers as they prepare to leave college and make choices about what they will do next in their lives.

This will be Mayflower Theatre’s Summer Youth Production in 2020.

Drift is a new dance production incorporating awe inspiring aerial artists and dynamic contemporary movement in a timeless world, inspired by The Mayflower passenger’s legend with a company of professional and community dancers.
