To be able to take part in any aspect of Mayflower's Summer Youth Project, participants and parents/guardians must agree to the following Code of Conduct: We strive for Mayflower's Summer Youth Project to be an inclusive, safe environment where young people can be themselves, learn and develop new skills, meet new people, and work with experienced theatre practitioners whilst having fun and feeling supported.
To achieve this, we ask that all participants follow this simple set of guidelines to get the most out of their time at the Summer Youth Project:
- Be prompt to sessions, rehearsals and performances. If you are unable to attend a session, or are late, you must inform us as far in advance as possible by emailing participation@mayflower.org.uk
- Attend all sessions with a “Can-do” attitude
-Wear your Mayflower Summer Youth Project t-shirt and suitable clothing for physical activity.
- Respect and support fellow participants and staff. We promote tolerance and respect of each other in the room.
- Phones off and put away. We want everyone to be present in the room and phones can be distracting to yourself, peers and practitioners. Let’s give ourselves a break and put them in our bags and turn them off! Any material for rehearsal purposes will be recorded by the Participation team and shared privately.
Mayflower has a zero-tolerance policy in relation to bullying. Anyone found to be bullying will be immediately removed from the Project. A three-strike rule will be in operation throughout the 2 weeks. If a member of the project repeatedly disobeys the guidelines above or otherwise disrupts the sessions, they will be issued with a strike. Parents or guardians will then be notified of this by phone. If a member received two strikes then we will invite parents/guardians in for a chat with the member to explore what is going on. Three strikes, they will be asked to leave.
By signing up, the participant is agreeing to this Code of Conduct, and parents/guardians are agreeing that if you/your young person is found to break any of the following, they will be removed from the project:
- Behaving in a manner which puts either themselves or another person at serious risk of harm.
- Causing harm either physically or emotionally to another person, including the use of offensive or inappropriate language.
- Causing damage to the building and/or property that does not belong to them – this can include personal items belonging to other participants, property belonging to Mayflower and hired or borrowed property.
- Continued failure to change behaviour following continued requests by a member of the Participation team to do so.
- Any behaviour which can be deemed to be gross misconduct.
The Code of Conduct must be read by all participants plus a parent/guardian if participant is under 18 year old.
