Two venues, one mission; provide inspiring experiences to all

At Mayflower we are committed to providing exceptional theatre and arts experiences for everyone, both in Southampton and beyond. Our main hubs of performing excellence are our two venues, Mayflower Theatre and MAST Mayflower Studios. Both venues have a shared vision for their place in Southampton and have come together under the Mayflower brand to support each other to reach their goals of providing inspiring experiences for all. Read on to find out more about our venues’ facilities, the work they programme, and the services they provide.

Mayflower Theatre

Mayflower Theatre is an authentic, Grade II-listed Art Deco establishment in the heart of Southampton. A recent, major renovation in 2018 restored the theatre to its former romantic glory, creating the perfect backdrop for producers to bring popular West End musicals, dance, opera, drama, ballet and comedy shows to a local audience.

On top of their show programme, Mayflower Theatre’s suites and bars are also available for private hires.

Mayflower Theatre is also home to the Mayflower Engage team, whose work is focused on bringing performing arts experiences to children, schools and a variety of community groups. Engage run a variety of classes and youth groups which run both at Mayflower Theatre and up the road at MAST Mayflower Studios.

MAST Mayflower Studios

MAST Mayflower Studios is a multi-artform venue with three creative spaces, meeting rooms, and office space for our resident partners.

Studio 1 is our largest space, with a capacity of 449 seats across the stalls and the balcony. We present a mixture of touring and produced work in Studio 1.

Studio 2 is our most versatile space, a black box theatre with bleacher seating for 119 which can be retracted to accommodate 170 standing. Studio 2 is often used for Artist Development, Community and Youth Theatre work, including scratch and smaller scale performances.

Studio 3 is our smallest space, most commonly used for workshops, rehearsals and Youth Theatre sessions.

In addition to our studios MAST is also home to two spacious meeting rooms, both available for hire, and a modern cafe. MAST’s level one cafe is the perfect spot for a coffee with friends or a study session, serving a variety of drinks, snacks and hot food.
