I am thrilled at how our colleagues at Mayflower Theatre and MAST Mayflower Studios have developed Southampton as the outstanding centre for dance on the South Coast.
I have the privilege of bringing three great dance companies to Mayflower – Birmingham Royal Ballet, Acosta Danza, and now Acosta Danza Yunior – and we look forward to the pleasure of performing for you this coming season, and indeed beyond, as part of this far-sighted vision.
I set up Acosta Danza Yunior in 2023, to develop outstanding Cuban dance talent. I am absolutely delighted that this exciting new company makes its international debut at MAST Mayflower Studios in September 2024 with a programme entitled Green Shoots, featuring the work of the finest Cuban choreographers.

Birmingham Royal Ballet returns to Mayflower Theatre in February 2025, with Sir David Bintley’s breathtaking production of Cinderella to Prokofiev’s brilliant music, played by BRB’s very own Royal Ballet Sinfonia.
Since I became Director of Birmingham Royal Ballet in 2020, I have always been impressed by how responsive Mayflower audiences are to the company’s regular performances there.
