MAST recently joined forces with Fostering Hampshire Children to support them with the roll out of their latest campaign dedicated to finding 150 new foster care households across the county by the end of 2023.
Every 12 hours another Hampshire child comes into care in need of a Foster Carer. In Hampshire, the gap between the number of children needing a loving home and the number of Foster Carers available, continues to widen.
In order to close the gap, the Fostering Hampshire Children campaign entitled #OpenYourDoor, are asking Hampshire residents to open their door to a child in care. The campaign seeks to highlight the accessibility of fostering for everyone. You don’t need to own your home or be in a long-term relationship. Your sexuality and ethnicity don’t matter. You don’t have to do fostering as a ‘full-time job,’ and you certainly don’t need to be ‘practically perfect in every way.’ Fostering Hampshire Children is looking for ordinary people aged over 21 who want to make positive changes within their communities, across the county.
There are some things you do need: a spare bedroom, patience, resilience, open-mindedness, and positivity to name but a few. If you’re aged over 21 and have the capacity and capability to build new relationships, learn about other cultures and offer stability to a young person at the time it’s needed most – Fostering Hampshire Children wants to hear from you.

Their growing community keeps Foster Carers connected in their vital role enhancing children’s lives. Through the Hampshire Hive, buddies, and groups, Foster Carers are well supported throughout their fostering journey.
Fostering Hampshire Children urgently needs more Foster Carers to provide homes for Hampshire children this winter, from babies through to teenagers, asylum seekers, sibling groups and children with additional needs or disabilities. They need your help today.
