Our iconic chandeliers shine once again

For nearly 100 years, our chandeliers have lit up the Mayflower Theatre and dazzled countless audiences. Now, after months of expert restoration, they’ve returned to their rightful place, shining just as brightly as they did in 1928.

Originally designed in 1928 by architects W. and T.R. Milburn for Moss Empires, the chandeliers have been a defining feature of Mayflower Theatre’s auditorium for nearly a century. With the theatre’s centenary on the horizon, they were identified within our ongoing Planned Preventative Maintenance Programme for a complete refurbishment – preserving their historic beauty and ensuring they’ll continue to shine for years to come.

The restoration was carried out by Crystal Light Chandeliers Ltd, specialists renowned for their work with fine chandeliers, including those in royal residences. Thanks to their expert craftsmanship, our chandeliers – which have dazzled audiences for generations – are ready to sparkle for another 100 years.

Michael Ockwell, Chief Executive of Mayflower, said

The chandeliers are a treasured part of Mayflower Theatre’s history and character, and we are delighted to see them returned in their original splendour thanks to the outstanding work of Crystal Light Chandeliers LTD. This restoration secures their future so that audiences can continue to enjoy their beauty and history for generations to come.
