For almost 30 years, Wessex Heartbeat has continuously worked to improve cardiac care in the Wessex Region, and collaborating with the world class Wessex Cardiac Centre at Southampton General Hospital.
Along with the staff at the Wessex Cardiac Unit, the charity helps new-borns, children and adults who are diagnosed with congenital and cardiovascular diseases by raising funds for equipment and facilities to help prevent and treat heart conditions. Wessex Heartbeat are also there to help provide services and facilities to patients and their relatives through their cardiac journey.
And this Christmas, Wessex Heartbeat kindly donated £750 in sponsorship to MAST Mayflower Studios for our very first produced Christmas show, Second Star To The Right. Described as “a beautifully gentle piece of theatre for all the family, but one that will have the littlest members mesmerised” by the Daily Echo, this show has left audiences with the lasting effect of the feel-good factor.
Aimed at early years, the money has been invaluable to the patients and families at the Wessex Cardiac Unit as one parent of a patient comments “we all had an amazing time. Even my 13 year old lad who came to help me with the 3 little ones. My 2nd eldest is autistic and can struggle in theatres but she was made to feel so welcome and given time to settle, adjust and feel comfortable before she joined in more. Absolutely amazing. My heart warrior was 100% entertained from the moment it started and wanted to jump right in with the actors.”
Speaking to Tina Richardson, Marketing Manager for Wessex Heartbeat about the sponsorship, she states that “Wessex Heartbeat are delighted to be partnering with MAST at a time when we as a charity are coming up to a significant chapter in our history with our 30th anniversary. We look forward to working with the enthusiastic team at MAST and being associated with such an integral part of Southampton’s City Culture.”
Our Executive Director, Sara Scott also would like to say “a huge thanks to Wessex Heartbeat for their support with our early years production Second Star to the Right. By working together in this way we have been able to offer families in Southampton, who would not otherwise have had the opportunity, a magical Christmas experience in these most difficult of times.”
