48 Thoughts Per Minute
2 – 3 February 2027
Event details
Written by The Paper Birds and Jessica Fostekew.
Co-produced by New Wolsey Theatre. Co-commissioned by Corn Exchange Newbury and Warwick Arts Centre.
A fast-paced, hilarious and chaotic show about all the things we think but do not say.
Some scientists believe that your brain fires off around 48 thoughts per minute, that’s 70,000 a day! So what exactly are we thinking about?
Set over three minutes, as one woman awaits some potentially life-changing news, this fast-paced, chaotic and warmly relatable story explores our relationship with ourselves.
Co-created with the comedian Jessica Fostekew, you can expect a theatrical dive into the hilarious, relatable noise inside a human head. The 3am spiral. The uninvited memory that keeps reappearing.
Sharp new writing meets real stories from real people across the UK and audiences can join in too, sharing your own thoughts via your smartphone.
With belly laughs and gentle gut-punches, 48 Thoughts Per Minute considers how we navigate the world around us and the most important relationship we have, the one with ourselves.
