Join The Uncultured for two online workshops designed to make conversations about money feel more approachable.
Where’s the Money? Intro to Arts Fundraising will introduce you to possible arts funding routes, including Arts Council England and beyond, while Money Matters will help you reflect on your personal and project finances.
The Uncultured are two freelancers, Ashleigh Bowmott and Laura Sweeney, who work together to produce, curate, facilitate and advocate. You might know them as “the template people”, as they create lots of free freelancer-friendly resources to try to minimise unpaid labour. Every year they write tons of funding applications, raising hundreds of thousands of pounds for independent artists. They are Certified Trauma of Money Professionals, who approach conversations around money through the lens of compassion and disempowering financial shame. Join The Uncultured for this 3 hour session that will introduce you to possible arts funding routes; Arts Council England and beyond. Maybe you’re full of ideas but haven’t received much/any financial support to make it or pay yourself?
We’ll throw in some practical and honest tips for how to design projects with fundraising in mind and how to talk about your work to people who probably have no idea what you do!
Money Matters
14 January 2027 | 10am – 12pm
Join The Uncultured for this 2 hour session all about, you guessed it, money. A lot of people find it super awkward or stressful to talk about dosh, but we love it, so this session is designed to help you feel more comfortable and confident thinking about your finances.
Come along to reflect on your personal and project finances – how much do you want to earn? How much should you charge? How much work should you do for free? What do you need to consider when designing a project budget?
