Illuminate Dance Teacher CPD Day

Step into a full day dedicated to uplifting, energising and expanding your dance teaching practice. Illuminate Dance, Mayflower’s first-ever professional development event for dance educators, brings together leading companies, specialist practitioners and passionate teachers from across the UK for an immersive day of learning and connection.

Whether you’re looking to refresh your toolkit, deepen your knowledge or spark new ideas, this event is designed to support and inspire you at every step.

You will have the opportunity to take part in all of the following workshops:

• Rambert – Learn practical strategies to break down choreography from creative stimuli. This session introduces movement tasks that spark individual creativity, curiosity and group collaboration, giving you tools to develop richer choreographic work with your students.
• James Cousins Dance – Explore an accessible approach to contact work, using flow and momentum to create fluid partnered sequences. Leave with practical tasks, clear teaching strategies and renewed confidence in developing contact work with your students.
• Stop Gap Dance Company – Discover how Open Language and Intention can unlock dance skills and support movement translation. Gain tools and tips to make your classes more accessible while maintaining rigour, benefiting every dancer who takes part.
• Amy Morvell Dance – Join Amy for a dance workshop designed to build confidence in leading improvisation for young people. Explore ways to shape dynamics and movement qualities into contemporary pieces, developing a distinctive movement language you can apply directly in your teaching.
