Event details
ILLUMINATE SOUTH Drama Teachers Conference is back for its fourth year on the South Coast!
Join us in person for a full day of inspiring workshops, featuring exciting opportunities to meet and talk with theatre education specialists, industry professionals, and fellow drama teachers.
This year we will have four workshops throughout the day that will each take a deep dive into different practices. You will get to partake in all the following workshops:
- Steve McCourt from Punchdrunk Enrichment who will be exploring immersive theatre and the concept: What happens when an audience is cast as the protagonist of an adventure?
punchdrunkenrichment.org.uk - Genevieve Say from double Olivier Award Nominees Splendid Productions, who will be leading an energetic workshop looking at devising new work using physical characterisation, chorus, and vocality.
splendidproductions.co.uk - Commedia expert Cheryl Stapleton from Learning Through Theatre will also be joining us to deliver a session on Commedia dell’Arte in the KS3 classroom.
learningthroughtheatre.co.uk - Lucy Bellingham from We Teach Drama, will focus on Implementing an ambitious Key Stage 3 Drama Curriculum which ‘lands’ for your students.

Feedback from Illuminate 2025:
“It was a brilliant day. Easily the best day of CPD I’ve been on as a teacher….I can’t wait for next year!”
“I’m feeling really grateful. It is the first time I’ve done one of these conferences and I’ve really enjoyed it. I feel my passion gets squashed at school sometimes with the day to day and this just reignited why I do what I do. Why I love theatre, why I went into the job.”
“I feel energised that I’ve had the chance to practically explore these practitioner methods and understand it from the other side, the industry professional side, rather than just read about it.”
