The Art of Conversation is a lively, entertaining and inspiring 90-minute show that explores the art of confident communication. Discover why we experience nerves, how to develop a stronger stage presence, and how adding emotion, storytelling and theatrical techniques can transform the way you speak.
Presented by Hamwic Speakers, Southampton’s friendly, non-profit public speaking club, this unique performance features powerful real-life stories delivered by club members, practical speaking tips, live demonstrations and audience participation. You’ll also discover how speeches are evaluated, how to think on your feet, handle difficult audiences, and develop your improvisation and performance skills.
Whether you experience crippling stage fright, struggle with everyday conversations, need confidence for work presentations or a wedding speech, or simply want to become a more engaging communicator, there’s something here for everyone.

- Audience interactive session with Hamwick Speakers’ ex-presidents George Weller and David Collins on how to handle a difficult audience, improvisation and acting challenges
- Musical finale: hear from those whose lives have been transformed by their journey with Hamwick Speakers
