Event details

What would you do if what seemed like the perfect holiday friendship followed you home?

From the pen of acclaimed writer Steven Moffat (SherlockDoctor WhoCoupling) comes The Unfriend, a razor-sharp comedy about good manners, bad decisions and the dangers of being too polite…

When Peter and Debbie befriend the ‘delightfully eccentric’ Elsa during a cruise, they think they’ve made a charming new acquaintance. But when Elsa announces that she’ll be visiting them in England, their holiday friendship becomes alarmingly real. As misunderstandings multiply and panic sets in, the couple are trapped between what they want to say and what social convention allows them to say.

Packed with sparkling dialogue and brilliantly observed characters, The Unfriend is a fast-moving comedy that asks the question: just how far will you go to avoid causing offence? As the situation spirals out of control, every attempt to do the right thing only makes matters worse.

Presented by SUP Theatre Company and directed by Tim Prentki, this production brings Moffat’s West End hit to the stage in a hilarious evening of laughter, awkwardness and comic chaos.

An amateur production by arrangement with Nick Hern Books.
