Mayflower Theatre is firmly committed to enabling all of our customers to participate equally in our work, both on and off the stage and with dignity and respect.
Mayflower Theatre believes that live performance should be accessible to everyone and are committed to ensure this occurs. Our teams have been trained to support all our customers needs and are always learning.
We continue to review and adapt our facilities within the limitations of our Grade 2 listed building and work with customers and outside groups to discuss individual needs and/or concerns to ensure that our customers can get the most from their visit.
In 2016 we achieved the Beautiful South Access For All Gold Award for Access, in recognition of our effort to provide accessibility for all, within the confines of a 1928 building. We also offer an exceptional Access Membership Scheme for visitors that need to bring a companion.
If you have a special seating or access requirement please speak to a member of the Box Office team, who will endeavour to provide you with a seat suitable to your needs. We welcome comments and suggestions for further improvement. Please email us using access@mayflower.org.uk.
We Welcome Everyone
If you want to find out a bit more about your visit before you come then please take a look at the video below. We worked with Autism Hampshire and City Eye to create this film about a trip to our theatre with kind permission of Qdos Entertainment.
Access and Drop-offs
A lay-by, directly next to our Accessible Entrance, allows cars or small vehicles to pull off of Commercial Road to drop off disabled passengers. The parking bays on the opposite side of Commercial Road do not exclusively cater for Mayflower Theatre.
Empire Lane is the designated drop-off point for mini-buses.
Blechynden Terrace is the designated drop-off point for coaches.
Discounts for Disabled people and Companions
If you need somebody to be present to assist you, you can join our Access Membership Scheme and be entitled to a half price personal assistant seat. This scheme is only open to those who genuinely require assistance visiting the theatre, and we will not tolerate abuse of the scheme.
Wheelchair spaces and discounted companion seats can be purchased online by members of our Access Scheme. Bookings can also be made by phoning our Priority Access Phone Line on 02380 711813. You can also contact us by email on access@mayflower.org.uk.
