Secondary Schools

We enable secondary schools to go behind the scenes and get closer to a production. Students learn about the process from both a creative and practical real-world perspective.

Production Insights

Join our touring companies and gain an insight into rehearsal room technique and repertoire. Including opportunities to shadow technical rehearsals.

Behind the Curtain Careers Tours

Explore the creative careers that go into bringing productions to our stage. Join us on an inspiring backstage tour as we introduce the various careers that work at Mayflower Theatre. We may pique your curiosity with a career your students have not considered before!

Prices start from £150 per class.

Tech Tasters

Watch a show and then take part in a 30-minute introduction to the world of technical theatre and its careers. Tech Tasters are delivered by our technical teams and visiting companies.

We will give a demonstration of up to five technical areas pertinent to the production. To support the insight, we provide a video resource and in-classroom exercises.

Show Packages

Available throughout the year, this package for KS3 and KS4 includes:

  • A behind the curtain tour of Mayflower Theatre
  • A theatre-based workshop
  • A matinee show performance

Transport Subsidy Scheme

We are thrilled to announce the launch of our Transport Subsidy Scheme, designed to make theatre more accessible to thousands of local school pupils and community groups. This exciting partnership with Xelabus, reflects our commitment to ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to experience the magic of live theatre.

The Transport Subsidy Scheme has been created to help schools and community groups overcome the financial barriers associated with attending theatre, particularly the high costs of transportation. This initiative supports the belief that theatre is for everyone, aligning with the UK Theatre’s Theatre for Every Child campaign, which highlights the importance of theatre visits for schools.
